Water and Solvent Based Adhesives for Lamination and Flocking

Sika Automotive

Our SikaTherm® product line includes water-based and solvent-base 2-component (2C) systems. Long open times and good resistance to heat or hydrolysis make them ideal for flocking and laminating applications with textile, wood, plastics, and other common substrates.

The process of curing takes place as the solvent or water in the system evaporates with a drying speed that depends on the ambient conditions. The physical process is followed by chemical crosslinking with the curing agent.

Main Material Properties

SikaTherm® adhesives cover a broad range of applications, substrates, and processes, so material properties vary depending on which substrates are being bonded.

SikaTherm® is typically applied by spray gun to both joining surfaces. For applications with non-treated polyolefin substrates, a SikaSense® primer can be used to improve adhesion.

Be Aware: 2-Component (2C) systems must be properly mixed to ensure reliable performance.
