Multi-Purpose Hotmelt Adhesives
SikaMelt® adhesives are our broad range of hotmelt products, with a chemical structure based on polyurethane, polyolefin (with reactive components), or thermoplastic rubber.
SikaMelt® is ideal for bonding plastics, composites, wood, paper, textiles, foams, vinyl, leather, and carpet substrates for automotive interior applications. Physical curing starts for non-reactive hotmelts as the product is cooling down from its processing temperature, while for reactive hot melts, curing continues as the chemical crosslinking occurs.
Curing speeds vary depending on the moisture content of the air and the temperature, as well as on the moisture content and permeability of the substrates being bonded.
Applications
SikaMelt® adhesives are usually applied by roll-coater, film, spot, bead, or spray application using melting equipment. Specialized cleaners are available to make cleaning the application equipment and tools fast and easy. Processing temperatures range from 70 °C up to 190 °C.
