Sika Automotive a Finalist in 2021 Edison Awards

Sika Automotive is a finalist for its SikaPower-550® G Structural Adhesive for Automobile Assembly in the Engineering & Materials Science category. The winners will be determined and announced at the 2021 Edison Awards Gala in Fort Myers, Florida on April 22, 2021.

SikaPower-550® G adhesive combined the requirements of three separate Ford materials specifications into one single specification with compatibility to steel & aluminum. Along with this demanding challenge, a number of other requirements were also met: it was to be used in multiple areas of the body structure, including the hem-flange, necessitating inclusion of glass beads while maintaining crash durable performance; an improvement in open time; increased stress durability performance of the bond under constant static load in a corrosive environment; improved humidity resistance; engineered/formulated to cure at lower bake temperature window.
