Lightweighting is a key driver in the automotive car body development market, and Sika Automotive, as a major player with bonding solutions for a wide range of body-in-white applications, including steel, aluminum, CFRP, and mixed-material construction, shows their experience at the Eurocarbody conference soon. This well-known event, which is the major worldwide exhibition for automotive manufacturing experts, is taking place from 20 to 22 October 2015 at Hotel Dolce conference center in Bad-Nauheim, Germany.  Sika Automotive is proud to feature its innovative car body solutions at booth number 21.

The continuing challenges of car body light-weighting are being solved by the use of high strength steel, aluminum, magnesium and other non-traditional materials such as carbon fiber reinforced (CFRP). The use of such materials requires new joining solutions and new design concepts to solve emerging challenges: delta-alpha
by using different type of materials, noise vibration harshness (NVH) issues due to intensive use of ultra high strength steel (UHSS), use of thinner and lighter substrates, adhesion and contact corrosion on new substrates. Safety regulations provide further challenges to the automaker as they have to maintain performance, but with less mass. As a lightweighting solution provider, Sika Automotive will present some real life manufacturing cases using SikaPower®, SikaReinforcer® and Sikaflex® that deliver performance with less impact on CO2 emissions.

Sika will feature its latest innovations in car body lightweighting. Highlights include Sikaflex® Ultra High Modulus one-component PUR for structural and crash resistant bonding of mixed material (in particular for bonding CFRP to aluminum) as well as Sikaflex® Ultra Low Modulus one component PUR for roof panel stiffening and
damping. The exhibit will also demonstrate the success behind the current VW e-Golf where Sika’s High Strength Bonding solutions have been used, with SikaPower® adhesive and SikaReinforcer® structural inserts.

Our representatives would appreciate meeting you at the Sika Booth No. 21, at Sprudelhof to answer your questions.
